Mrs. Rabeya Chowdhury is talking about her school:
‘In
Sherpur High School all the students learn and earn. For example, the
school has bought a loom. We buy cotton from Narayangonj and the
students make towels on the loom. The towels are quite easy to make and
the school sells them.
We also buy exercise books and our students
bind them. So that they’re good and strong. Some students make torches
from bamboo. Other print cloth or make paper bags.
We also work
outside. We’ve made a vegetable garden and the school has bought some
small animals. The students look after these things. It is interesting
and useful for the students and we make money too. We can use the money
to improve our school.

3. Read the text and answer the following questions.
Abu
Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta, was a Moroccan Muslim scholar and
traveler. He is known for his traveling and going on excursions called
the Rihla. He was born in Tangier, Morocco, on the 24th of February
1304. His journeys lasted for a period of almost thirty years. This
covered nearly the whole of the known Islamic world and beyond extending
from North Africa, West Africa, Southern Europe and eastern Europe in
the West, to the middle east, Indian subcontinent, Central Asia,
Southeast Asia and China in the East. He was appointed a Judge in
Morocco and died in 1368.
Haji Mohammad Mohsin was born to Haji
Faizullah and Zainab in Hugli (now in West Bengal, India) in 1732. He
was home schooled and gained knowledge in the study of the Quran,
Headith and Fiqhah. Later, The went on travels to see the world. He
travelled Iran, Iraq, Arabia and Turkey and made pilgrimage to holy
places like Makkah, Madina, Kufa, Karbala etc. He returned home after 27
long years of travel. This great man died on 29 November 1912.
